Video Game Quality Assurance Lead (QA)
We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Video Game QA Lead to oversee the testing process and ensure the highest quality standards for our games.
Nerd Ninjas is a fully remote, fast-moving, multi-disciplinary team of creative professionals that work hard and play hard. We’re working on fun and interesting projects across VR, AR, mobile, and desktop.
We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Video Game QA Lead to oversee the testing process and ensure the highest quality standards for our games. The QA Lead will be responsible for managing a team of external testers, developing test plans, identifying and reporting bugs, and collaborating with development teams to enhance game stability and playability. This role requires a deep understanding of game development, strong leadership skills, and a keen eye for detecting issues that impact player experience.

Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of outsourced QA testers, providing guidance, training, and feedback.
- Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans, strategies, and test cases for game features, functionality, and performance.
- Track, document, and report bugs using bug-tracking software (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, DevTrack).
- Collaborate with developers, designers, and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Monitor and analyze stability and game performance across multiple platforms.
- Ensure compliance with platform certification requirements.
- Manage test cycles and oversee regression testing, ensuring that fixes do not introduce new issues.
- Advocate for quality throughout the development lifecycle and participate in risk assessments.
- Stay updated on industry trends, QA best practices, and new testing technologies.
- Provide feedback on game design, mechanics, and overall user experience.
- Organize regular internal playtests across the organization.
Requirements:
- 4+ years experience in game QA, with at least 1 year in a lead or management role.
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.
- Strong understanding of game development cycles, testing methodologies, and debugging processes.
- Experience with platform-related compliance processes.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical and gameplay-related issues.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Passion for video games and a deep understanding of player experience.
- Strong English communication skills with the ability to articulate issues effectively.
- Ability to work remotely and is available during core team hours, M-F: 9:00am - 5pm Pacific Time.
- Must be a US or Canadian resident (unfortunately, visa sponsorships are not available; applicants outside North America will not be considered).
Pluses:
- Experience with VR, AR and/or Mobile platforms.
- Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools and debugging software
- Knowledge of network testing, multiplayer functionality, and live-service games.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Lives in the Pacific Northwest.
Salary Range for this position is: $70k - $100k depending on experience and ability
