Technical Artist

We’re seeking an experienced Technical Artist to have a direct hand working on a title known worldwide.


Nerd Ninjas is a fully remote, fast-moving, multidisciplinary team of creative professionals who work hard and play hard. We’re dedicated to creating engaging projects across VR, AR, mobile, and desktop platforms.

We’ve worked with the likes of Niantic, Meta, and others on original and also some extremely well-known titles. The ideal candidate will have successfully launched multiple video game titles and will love playing and developing games at the forefront of technology. These skills will be used to bring millions of simultaneous active players around the globe together for exciting new experiences in a very beloved title.

Responsibilities

  • Create & optimize performant shaders for stunning visuals.
  • Recreate & set up shaders to mimic visuals of existing experiences.
  • Import existing animations onto the new platform & execute blending/polish tasks.
  • Generate meshes at runtime based on data passed from mobile games.
  • Iterate on Unity 3D scenes to finalize product & other creative requirements.
  • Concept & implement juicy VFX.
  • Support the art team & Unity developers by identifying inefficiencies & recommending/implementing improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and solve core technical problems in cooperation with each department.
  • Facilitate & improve the asset pipeline between engineers and artists.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience shipping multiple successful games.
  • Expert experience with the Unity Game Engine.
  • Expert in scripting with C#.
  • Experience creating beautiful VFX sequences.
  • Knowledge of optimizing real-time 3D graphics pipeline for mobile platforms.
  • Available M-F 9am-5pm PT.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Must be a US or Canadian resident (unfortunately, visa sponsorships are not available; applicants outside North America will not be considered).

Pluses

  • Solid artistic skills.
  • Concept design.
  • Experience developing pipelines with Substance Designer, Substance Painter, or Houdini.
  • Some experience in planning and developing tools.
  • Able to envision creative ways to leverage new or existing ideas and technologies.
  • Experience collaborating within a multi-person game studio.
  • Knowledge of Runtime Mesh Generation.
  • Deep Shader Knowledge.
  • Javascript/Typescript Knowledge
  • Live in the Pacific Northwest.

 

Salary Range for this position is: $75k - $115k depending on experience and ability
