Full Stack Game Engineer

We’re seeking an experienced Full Stack Game Engineer to have a direct hand working on a title known worldwide.


Nerd Ninjas is a fully remote, fast-moving, multidisciplinary team of creative professionals who work hard and play hard. We’re dedicated to creating engaging projects across VR, AR, mobile, and desktop platforms.

We’ve worked with the likes of Niantic, Meta, and others on original and also some extremely well-known titles. The ideal candidate will have successfully launched multiple video game titles and will love playing and developing games at the forefront of technology. These skills will be used to bring millions of simultaneous active players around the globe together for exciting new experiences in a very beloved title.

Responsibilities

  • Translate design specifications into functional game mechanics.
  • Cross discipline communication and requirement gathering.
  • Communicate with other team members to establish effective pipelines and integrate media assets.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to address and mitigate these problems.
  • Help maintain code quality, cleanliness, & organization.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience developing games on multi-person teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of C# and Java.
  • Experience with RPC/REST.
  • Experience working with SQL/NoSQL databases.
  • Experience implementing UI designs.
  • Experience with Mobile game development.
  • Experience with 3D game development.
  • Experience writing client-server architecture.
  • Ability to constantly learn and stay in touch with evolving game standards and development technologies.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with current design and architectural patterns.
  • Experience with game physics and particle systems.
  • A knack for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code.
  • Proficient knowledge of Git.
  • Strong English communication skills.
  • Ability to work successfully remotely and be available during core team hours, M-F: 9:00am - 5pm Pacific Time.
  • A passion for games.
  • Must be a US or Canadian resident (unfortunately, visa sponsorships are not available; applicants outside North America will not be considered).

Pluses

  • Experience with Unity.
  • Experience with Docker/Kubernetes deployments in Unix environments.
  • Experience with GCloud or other Cloud services.
  • Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript.
  • Experience with React UI (Native or Web)
  • Experience optimizing memory and space usage to optimize hardware performance.
  • Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests.
  • Experience utilizing dependency injection and service location patterns.
  • Experience with analytics & crash reporting frameworks. Sentry a big plus.
  • Live in the Pacific Northwest.

 

Salary Range for this position is: $80k - $130k depending on experience and ability
